Blake Griffin's Superstar Postseason

Blake Griffin is having one of the best postseasons of any power forward in recent history. He is one of five to ever average at least 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists at his position during the postseason.

During the regular season in which he played 67 games, Griffin averaged 21.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 5.3 assists. This postseason, we’ve seen another level to Griffins play; we’ve seen a leader, not a player looking to make a highlight-reel dunk.

Blake Griffin, thus far, is averaging 25.1 points per game, 13.5 rebounds and 7.3 assists. Along with these numbers, Griffin has produced three Triple-Doubles, with two of them coming in back to back games; one being Game 7 against the San Antonio Spurs. Not only is he producing these huge numbers, he’s produced these numbers against Tim Duncan and the San Antonio Spurs, and now against Terrance Jones and Dwight Howard of the Houston Rockets.

With the lack of a play-maker, besides Chris Paul, Blake Griffin has stepped up being a second creator for his teammates. This has been a huge lift for the Clippers, while Paul continues to get back to full health. We’ve also seen Blake Griffin at numerous times this postseason not attacking the basket for a dunk, but to go to the line for free throws. The change in his mentality has been something incredible and fun to watch.

While Griffin’s play from this point on is unknown, if this is the play we’re going to see that Griffin, the Clippers will be more than a favorite to come out of the West. Blake Griffin is making a case on the biggest stage, that he is an all-around Superstar.
