Detroit Pistons, 30-52-(5th Central Division, 12th Eastern Conference)
Season Summary: The Detroit Pistons had a rough season as they finished last in the Central Division. They are a younger team and rebuilding in the Eastern Conference and it was evident in the 2014-2015 season. The Pistons finished with 23-29 record against the Eastern Conference, meaning they were not even competitive against the teams in the West. The Pistons look to be busy in free agency.
Cap Space:26.3 million dollars
Free Agents:
Reggie Jackson, Restricted free agent
John Lucas III,Unrestricted free agent
Tayshaun Prince, Unrestricted free agent
Joel Anthony, Unrestricted free agent
Greg Monroe, Unrestricted free agent
Will They Stay or Go:
Reggie Jackson will be back in a Pistons uniform in 2015 and that is the only guarantee from this list of free agents. John Lucas III, Prince, Anthony and Monroe will most likely not be back. The biggest blow to the Pistons is the loss of Monroe, who is one of the better big men in the NBA.
Team Needs:
Replacement for Greg Monroe- The Pistons need to replace the absence of Greg Monroe in free agency. This should be a top priority for them as free agency gets underway.
Perimeter Shooting- It is clear that the Pistons lacked in the scoring department last season. They need to target a good shooting guard who can put up decent scoring consistently for the Pistons.
Possible Targets:
Danny Green- Green would provide consistent three point shooting for the Pistons and a veteran leader in the locker room for this young Pistons team. He would fit in well alongside Reggie Jackson and rookie Stanley Johnson.
David West- With Andre Drummond losing his counterpart Monroe, David West would be a good fit to the Pistons. They can get him at a decent price and fill the loss of Monroe, as well as providing another veteran in that locker room.
Monta Ellis- It is clear that the Pistons are planning on going after a shooting guard and if things don't work out with Danny Green, they should strongly consider Ellis. He will provide consistent scoring. Ellis would be a huge asset to the Pistons in 2015.
