NBA Future Power Rankings 2. Golden State Warriors

After a 40-year drought, the Golden State Warriors won their fourth NBA title, making them the fifth NBA franchise to accomplish the feat. The Warriors will be bringing back almost every rotation player in their title defense this season and will still be title contenders in the future, as they come in at number two in my future power rankings.

They return every major contributor from last season and have a couple locked up for the future. Klay Thompson and Draymond Green will both be around to see the Warriors move into their new arena. In all likelihood, Stephen Curry, Harrison Barnes and Festus Ezeli will all be signed to extensions within the next two summers. I don’t believe Andrew Bogut will be back after his contract expires but do think Andre Iguodala returns.

With the core in place, the Dubs have proven under the new regime that they draft incredibly well, are financially responsible, and that doesn’t seem like it will change. The roster has an incredible chemistry that is evident during every Warriors’ game. They are building that same special culture that’s been the foundation with the San Antonio Spurs.

The front office will continue to find late round role players and sign veterans who want to be part of the electric atmosphere of the Bay area. Expect Steve Kerr and the Dubs to replicate the success of the Spurs on the west coast.
