Chandler Parson will be joining the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2016-17 season. Parsons, is arguably the best free agent signing in Grizzlies history, a versatile small forward who will be bringing a number of advantages for the Grizzlies.
The first thing that Parsons add to the Grizzlies is exactly what they need, SHOOTING. The Grizzlies were one of the worst three-point shooting teams in the league last season. They depended heavily on their big boys down low, Zach Randolph and Marc Gasol. Parsons is a 38 percent three-point shooter for his career and shoots well over 40 percent from the field. This skill alone will help the Grizzlies immensely.
Parsons is also a versatile defender. Not that the Grizzlies need him for his defense, but adding him with Tony Allen, the Grindfather, the Grizzlies will now be a matchup nightmare on the defensive end. And on top of all that, Parsons held opponents to 27.8 percent shooting when they tried to go at him one-on-one.
With all that being said, the Grizzlies have an outstanding starting lineup, and with the addition of new head coach David Fizdale, the Grizzlies just put themselves in a position to make some serious noise in the playoffs.
