It’s not much of a secret the Suns have loads of young talent. However, that hasn’t brought them team wins. The organization did a great job bringing in veterans like Jared Dudley and Leandro Barbosa in the offseason to mentor professionalism. The Phoenix Suns as a team has an average age of only 25, which is one of the youngest in the league. Watch out for them if they keep their core together. They are surely going to be a dark horse in a few years.
Featured Player:
Young Gunners: The Suns feature a highly octane offense featuring former Kentucky alums in Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker. Both players have a flashy ability to score the basketball, especially Booker. Bledsoe, not a traditional point guard, has learned well from former teammate Chris Paul on how to lead a team. Let’s not forget Booker is only a baby at 20 years old and Bledsoe is entering his prime at 27. The statistics are all there, where one might argue they just need more production from their frontline. Then you have Brandon Knight, a combo guard who is perfect in a 6th man role. Aside from making a few appearances on Shaqin’ A Fool, he can really ignite an offense with his playmaking and scoring ability. TJ Warren has also become a solid starter for this team, flashing his ability to shoot the 3 ball while also being able to defend other wings in this league.
Promising Bigs: The Suns did a great job by picking up Marquese Chriss, a 6-foot 10 stretch big who has the tools to become a good 2-way player. They also picked up the Croatian big man Dragan Bender with the No. 4 pick, who has a body type like Kristaps Porzingis with a unique skill set of passing and dribbling for his size. They still have Alex Len, a 3rd year 7-foot 1 center from Ukraine. They have a solid foundation, it just hasn’t translated into wins. If only Coach Earl Watson would start Alex Len instead of 50-year old Tyson Chandler, who knows? FREE ALEX LEN!
The Suns certainly need to tweak their lineup to make progress in the Win/Loss column, but they sure are fun to watch. Devin Booker has a sweet-stroking touch like Klay Thompson, where I can argue he could end up being a better, more-well around offensive player than Klay. Eric Bledsoe, often labeled mini-Lebron is no slouch at that point guard position. The FA market and trades will determine the future of this team, but now it’s definitely the Bledsoe-Booker show.
