DEMARCUS COUSINS TRADED TO THE NEW ORLEANS PELICANS

Just a few hour after the NBA All-Star Game, Adrian Wojnarowski dropped the biggest news of the weekend.

The Sacramento Kings, after promising DeMarcus Cousins privately and publicly that he wouldn’t be moved prior to Thursday’s NBA trade deadline, agreed to trade the center to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday night, league sources told The Vertical.

The Pelicans are sending guards Buddy Hield, Tyreke Evans and Langston Galloway, and 2017 first- and second-round picks to the Kings, league sources said, with forward Omri Casspi going to New Orleans. - (The Vertical)

The Pelicans interest in Cousins had been mentioned earlier in the weekend, but still, this is a surprise to everyone. Not because the Kings said publicly, multiple times that they intended to keep Cousins, but because if someone traded for Cousins we expected it to be the Boston Celtics or even the Phoenix Suns, not the New Orleans Pelicans.

But hey, give the Pelicans credit, they knew Anthony Davis needed help and they answered with a superstar in DeMarcus Cousins.
