OTG's NBA Trade Deadline Marathon: Day 6

Jonathan Ebrahimi

*The Cleveland Cavaliers will also send THEIR 2018 first-round pick to the Los Angeles Clippers*

The rumours surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers and DeAndre Jordan have been loud and frequent, as the Cavs have expressed quite an interest in the center. However, Cleveland will have to part ways with some useful assets in order to convince the Clippers to send Jordan their way.

Given the current state of the franchise, a package that includes Tristan Thompson, Iman Shumpert and Ante Zizic, as well as their own first round pick (not to be confused with the Brooklyn pick), might be enough to convince the Clippers to include Pat Beverley in the deal.

The Clippers are deep at the point guard position with Austin Rivers and Milos Teodosic taking up minutes, as well as Lou Williams taking on some ball handling duties. In return, they receive a versatile big man, a talented wing defender on a decent contract, a promising prospect in Zizic and a first round pick in this year’s draft.

The Cavaliers are in a situation where they have a chance to win another NBA championship. Realistically the franchise shouldn’t worry about life after LeBron James and should focus on going on all in on one more ring. Adding DeAndre Jordan and Pat Beverly(who could return this season)immediately improves the team’s defense, the area in which the Cavs need the most help.
