OTG's NBA Trade Deadline Marathon: Day 12

Evan Dyal

*Orlando receives Washington’s 2019 first round pick*

Besides Cleveland, Washington leads the league in drama. They have underperformed and consistently play down to their competition. Plus, their bench is still an issue. This is a win-now move for the Wizards that can greatly improve their chances in the east. Evan Fournier is a good player, who can play the two or the three. He can do a little bit of everything offensively. Nikola Vucevic is still injured, but should be back in a couple of weeks. (He is worth the wait.) Vucevic is not a great defender, but offensively he is a weapon. Him in John Wall would be a lethal pick and roll tandem.

Orlando is tanking, and Fournier and Vucevic don’t fit their timeline. Marcin Gortat says he wants to retire in Orlando, so this trade gets him there sooner. Gortat and Morris also come off the books in two years. Morris is not playing well this season, but he is still young and when engaged/healthy is solid. He can backup Aaron Gordon and play with him at times. Satoransky is the exciting piece as he is young and improving. He is a big guard who can handle the ball and play multiple positions. His best days are ahead of him. A 2019 first rounder doesn’t hurt either.
