The Boston Celtics have recently made two announcements as of late. The first was that Marcus Smart is now available for the right price (which the Celtics have stated is a first round pick). Secondly, the Celtics have expressed a lot of interest in bringing Lou Williams to their squad.
This trade has the potential to work out for both teams. Lou would bring some playmaking and ball-handling skills to the Celtics. Although they are a great defensive squad, when Kyrie is on the bench, the Celtics don’t have a guy who can bail them out when a play breaks down. Lou will be able to handle a lot of the “Kyrie” responsibilities with the second unit, and he will undoubtedly help this team’s offense.
For the Clippers, in return for giving up Lou Williams, they will receive a defensive stud who is still improving on the offensive end. Smart is still relatively young and is yet to reach his full potential, but he has become a proven starter in the NBA and is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
The deal may need some picks added to either side to sweeten the deal, but this is a swap that has the potential to benefit both teams.
