Legendary Miami Heat shooting guard Dwyane Wade has agreed to continue his playing career for one last season, as the future Hall of Famer announced himself on a 10-minute YouTube video. Neither terms nor extra details of the agreement have been revealed.
While fans awaited a decision on whether Wade wanted to continue his playing career or not, him re-signing with the Heat comes as no surprise. It had previously been reported that should Wade opt to sign another NBA contract, it would exclusively be with the Miami Heat organization.
Wade has certainly nothing left to prove on the court, but he can still be a positive contributor on a playoff team, as he showed us this year. It is in the postseason where Wade plays like an ageless star; in five playoff games with the Heat this season, he averaged 16.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals on 44.3% shooting from the field.
A 3-time NBA Champion, 2006 Finals MVP, 12-time All-Star, 8-time All-NBA and 3-time All-Defensive player, he is the Heat’s all-time leader in points, assists, steals, field goals, free throws, and games played. Wade can only do so much to help the Heat on the court this season, but his locker room presence, leadership, and veteran experience are what Miami wants him to bring to the table.
