Houston Rockets receive - Kent Bazemore
Atlanta Hawks receive - Brandon Knight, two second round picks
Why the Rockets would do it- Houston is in win-now mode, and after a slow start, the Rockets are on a roll. Still the team needs more depth, shooting, and defense, especially on the wing.
This trade brings in Kent Bazemore, an immediate upgrade over James Ennis and Daniel House. Bazemore is a solid shooter, play-maker, and wing defender. He could also ease the minute loads for Houston's marquee players.
Why the Hawks would do it- This move is similar to the Pistons trade for the Hawks. The Hawks are playing for the future, and Bazemore doesn't fit the team's timeline.
Brandon Knight isn’t particularly useful right now, but he would save the Hawks five million in cap-space next seasom. Mainly Atlanta would do this trade for the two second round picks. They could get Houston’s second round pick (from Memphis) in 2020 and a 2021 second round pick.
