Trade Deadline Marathon: Day 14.3

Marc Cantave

To PHI: PF Mike Muscala, SG Furkan Korkmaz

To CHA: FP Frank Kaminsky, SG Dwayne Bacon

According to Sporting News, the Charlotte Hornets are trying to move on from Frank Kaminsky, and the Philadelphia 76ers would be a great spot for him. With the Hornets cutting him out of the rotation and looking for a trade, it’s an excellent opportunity for the Sixers to get him at a low price.

Kaminsky is coming off a career year shooting the three, as he shot 38 percent last season; the Sixers could really use his shooting at the power forward position because it would give Joel Embiid a little more space to operate. A solid stretch four would be the final piece to their dynamic starting five. The 25-year-old would fit in nicely with the Sixers culture as he could provide minutes off the bench or in the starting lineup.

As for the Hornets, they would receive a versatile player in Muscala who can supply a lot of the size and shooting that Kaminsky provided before he fell out of favor in Charlotte. They also pick up a decent perimeter shooter in Korkmaz, who didn't get a qualifying offer this year, but still has potential in the league. Korkmaz has had several games this season where he was hot from three, and his shooting would be able to help Kemba Walker. Korkmaz is a solid player that can fit into any offense.

This trade is not a blockbuster, but not every trade is. The Sixers have already made their big trade for the season, but clearly need to work around the edges to supplement their Big 3. With the Sixers knocking on the door of serious title contention and the Hornets knocking on the door to the playoffs, both teams need all the extra help they can get.
