Week 13 has come and gone and we are inching closer and closer to the fantasy basketball playoffs. For most standard leagues, we only have seven more weeks to go. Now is the time to push the panic button if you find yourself in the bottom half of the standings.
If you play on Yahoo, I'd recommend doing to the research tab and look through their trade market options and transaction trends. Get a feel for possible deals you could make to improve your team. Even if you feel like you may not be getting good value, you might want to swing for the fences on a deal.
Fantasy Studs - Wowza Edition
Five guys who stood out this week from the rest by having a career-high performance.
Markelle Fultz. I've been saying his name all season long and on Wednesday against the Lakers, he showed what he is capable of doing. He had a triple double, with a career-high 11 rebounds and he tied a career-high in assists with 10. He also played a career-high 33 minutes in the win.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. On Monday, SGA scored 20 points and dished out 10 assists. That's good, but he also recorded 20 rebounds! 20 marked a career-high.
Kevin Huerter. Keeping in line with SGA, the next night, Red Velvet scored 23 points, had 15 rebounds, and collected eight assists. The rebounds and assists were career-highs.
DeAndre Ayton. Ayton pulled in a career-high 21 rebounds on Thursday against the Knicks. He also scored 26 points, to go along with two assists and two blocks.
Brandon Ingram. Ingram put up a career-high 49 points in an overtime win against the Jazz on Thursday. He added in eight rebounds and six assists too.
Fantasy Duds - Yikes Edition
Five guys who are probably looking forward to putting this week behind them, because they couldn't do much right.
Gordon Hayward. Hayward shot 10% on Thursday. He has flashes of his old self from time to time, then he goes and does this.
Lonzo Ball. Ball made two shots on 12 attempts in 42 minutes of action. Thankfully he managed 13 assists to make it not soo terrible, but it's still a yikes nonetheless.
Tristan Thompson. Thompson had a goose egg on Tuesday, missing all five of his shot attempts. He followed that up by shooting five more times the next night and he only hit one of those attempts.
Miles Bridges. Bridges, not to be outdone by Thompson, also goose egg'd a performance on Wednesday, missing all seven shots he took.
Marcus Smart. Smart shot 11% on Wednesday, only making one of his nine shot attempts. Nothing else really stood out to salvage a poor shooting effort.
Week 13 Overview
One one trade came down this week, which probably played no bearing on your team whatsoever, unless you rostered Jeff Teague. No one included in the deal moves the fantasy needle much.
However, rumors are flying left and right about possible players on the move. Guys like Andre Drummond, Kevin Love, Robert Covington, and D'Angelo Russell, who are rostered on some team in your league. Stay alert! Now is the time to capitalize on guys who are on the move, or at least be on the lookout for deals to be had in your league before it's too late.
Waiver Wire Potential
Here are 10 guys who are owned in 50% or less in standard Yahoo fantasy basketball leagues could possibly help your team this week.
Darius Garland, PG (47%). Garland is starting to be the lead dog in the Cleveland pack in terms of point guard play. He's averaging over six assists per game in his last five and is a decent source of points and threes.
Dillon Brooks, SG/SF (47%). Brooks is averaging over 21 points per game in his last five games. He's also adding in over three rebounds and three three's per game too.
JaVale McGee, C (45%). McGee might not provide much scoring for your team, but he has been pretty consistent in grabbing boards and blocking shots.
Jarrett Culver, PG/SG/SF (42%). Culver has a bigger window of opportunity with Jeff Teague no longer in the picture. He scored 26 points and had four rebounds and four made three's in his last game.
Duncan Robinson, SG/SF/PF (40%). Robinson has been draining three's all year long. So if you need to improve in that category, I'd pick him up quick.
Sekou Doumbouya, SF/PF (34%). Don't let his most recent game scare you, he's turning into one of Detroit's best players. He's also going to be given the reigns soon to keep taking over, so fire him up! He's the future of the Pistons.
Christian Wood, PF/C (31%). Another bright spot for the Pistons has been Christian Wood. He's getting more minutes and is a great source of blocks. He's also snagging a good amount of rebounds and points on any given night.
Troy Brown Jr., SG/SF (31%). Brown Jr. has three double-double's over his last seven games and came really close to making that five during that stretch. He's a good source of steals, but also recently, a good source of rebounds. From a guard position, that makes him even more valuable.
Ish Smith, PG (30%). Smith is averaging six assists per game over his last 10 games. He's also scoring around 15 points per game and over three rebounds per game during that span.
Josh Hart, SG/SF (26%). Hart has been rebounding really well for a guard this season. For the season, he's averaging over six rebounds a game, over his last five, he's averaging over eight. He's also a good source of steals and is capable of sprinkling in blocks and three's.
