Predicting Disney: Sacramento Kings

The Kings were supposed to be better with Luke Walton as head coach. However, through 64 games they have 28 wins this season as compared to 32 wins last season with Dave Joerger on the sidelines. You can put some of the blame on the injury bug, sure. DeAaron Fox missed 19 games and Marvin Bagley only played in 13 games. Those are two of the team’s best players and while they are a big factor in this team’s future and success, Sacramento was 0-10 in the games they both played in. That leaves a lot of questions and I highly doubt that they’ll be answered in this upcoming stretch. Bogdan Bogdanovic becoming a free agent doesn’t help the situation. On the plus side, it appears they found their starting center as Richaun Holmes has played very well for them.

Eight Game Schedule

July 31 vs. San Antonio Spurs – W

The good news for the Kings here is they get to start off their stretch with a game against a team that found out one of their best players will not be able to suit up. In their first matchup this season, LaMarcus Aldridge posted 19 points and 13 rebounds in a one-point win for the Spurs. In the second matchup, Buddy Hield lit it up for 31 points in a 20-point win for the Kings. He will play and this should be an easy win.

August 2 vs. Orlando Magic – L

Orlando has the closest thing to home court advantage and they walked away with a close win in the only matchup with Sacramento this season. Nikola Vucevic feasted for 26 points and 15 rebounds and he will likely be on display again.

August 4 vs. Dallas Mavericks – L

The Kings probably won’t be as happy to see Luka Doncic as he will be to see them. The Mavs won two of the three matchups between the two clubs this season and the young sensation averaged 28.3 points, 11.3 rebounds and 11 assists per game. Also, Sacramento would be wise to put a man on Tim Hardaway Jr. as he made a total of 17 triples.

August 6 vs. New Orleans Pelicans – W

New Orleans and Sacramento only played each other once this season and it was a nail biter that ended in a 117-115 final score in which all 10 starters scored in double figures. There are two games between them in this eight game stretch and I’ll award each with one victory, splitting the pair.

August 7 vs. Brooklyn Nets – W

Brooklyn will be missing a lot of players and Sacramento will capitalize on that. With Kyrie Irving and Spencer Dinwiddie both out, DeAaron Fox will look to put on a show.

August 9 vs. Houston Rockets – L

Houston and Sacramento split their two matches this season. However, one was only a one-point win for the Kings while the other was a nine-point win for the Rockets. Russell Westbrook and James Harden combined for 123 points in the pair and will need to be hot at this point.

August 11 vs. New Orleans Pelicans – L

See above. I’m splitting the pair of matches and giving the Pelicans this one. Zion Williamson will likely play angry and get several posters.

August 13 vs. Los Angeles Lakers – L

This will likely be a blowout loss and a very Kings style ending to the season, unfortunately. At least it will be over and all those questions can get answered. They have a promising young core and it will be interesting to see what they do from here.

Final Record: 31-41 (3-5 at Disney)
